The United States is scheduled to mediate working-level talks between Ukrainian and Russian delegations on Nov. 10 and 11 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The diplomatic initiative advances the American mission to resolve the armed conflict that began when Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff announced that the upcoming sessions in Abu Dhabi will concentrate on post-war security arrangements, conflict de-escalation, humanitarian initiatives, and subsequent steps toward peace. The announcement followed statements from President Donald Trump in October 2026 indicating that peace efforts were potentially closer than ever, with both nations seeking a cessation of hostilities.
Allied Consultations in Brussels
Ahead of the Abu Dhabi negotiations, American diplomats plan to convene in Brussels with representatives from France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and NATO. Those discussions will center on Ukrainian security guarantees, European post-war security frameworks, and economic reconstruction measures for Ukraine.
The push in the Gulf follows earlier diplomatic sessions held in Kyiv, Oslo, and St. Petersburg. Witkoff stated that negotiators aim to build on that earlier groundwork to reach an enduring agreement that delivers lasting security.
