Municipal repair teams in Kyiv fully restored citywide tap water distribution on Wednesday after widespread power disruptions shut down electric pumping stations for more than 24 hours.
The municipal water utility Kyivvodokanal said the Tuesday aerial assault disabled electrical pumps and cut off running water across most districts of the capital. Mykhailo Yatsuk, director of the Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation, called it "the most serious water outage in Kyiv since the war began."
Before running water returned, municipal authorities instructed residents to collect drinking water from public fountains across the city. Neighborhood emergency stations opened in the most affected areas to supply residents with hot tea and electrical charging points.
Energy infrastructure was hit more than 20 times across nine regions during a 24-hour span, according to state grid operator Ukrenergo. The Ukrainian Air Force confirmed that Russian forces launched 310 drones overnight on Tuesday, including 81 jet-powered models, with air defenses neutralizing 272 of them.
Repair crews restored water access by early Wednesday afternoon as private energy provider DTEK lifted emergency power shutdowns. With ongoing damage to local generating facilities, specialists have advised residents to keep emergency water stored ahead of winter.
