Ukraine currently has no access to the US “Starshield” military satellite communications system.
Miraz.TV reports that US Secretary of State and National Security Advisor to the President Marco Rubio made this statement to journalists on October 17 prior to his visit to Uzbekistan.
Differences Between Starlink and Starshield
According to him, while “Starlink” is a commercial product, “Starshield” is a military-grade system utilized by the US Armed Forces.
Discussions Surrounding Kyiv’s Request
“Currently, Ukraine has no access to this system. The issue is being discussed. We are discussing how they want to use this system,” Rubio emphasized.
The US Secretary of State noted that Ukraine requested access to the “Starshield” system to carry out strikes deep inside Russian territory.
Nevertheless, Rubio reaffirmed that Kyiv currently has no operational capability to use the system in question.
