The Pentagon is expanding its military footprint in the Middle East by planning to deploy a third aircraft carrier strike group alongside additional Marine Corps forces. According to US officials cited by The Wall Street Journal, this move will increase American military personnel in the region by approximately 9,000 to 10,000.
Miraz.TV reports that warships, fighter jets, Marines, and sailors are expected to reach the area by the end of November amid ongoing regional tensions that render the current calm precarious.
Deployment Timeline and Troop Reinforcements
The military buildup aims to reinforce regional deterrence and operational readiness. The arrival of ground forces, strike aircraft, and naval assets follows concerns over escalating tensions and potential wider conflict across the area.
Three Carrier Strike Groups Operating Simultaneously
The aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt departed San Diego on September 27. Currently, the USS George H.W. Bush and USS George Washington are already stationed in Middle Eastern waters.
According to The Wall Street Journal, if the USS George Washington remains on station, the United States will operate three carrier strike groups simultaneously in the Middle East for the first time since April.
