US President Donald Trump has denounced The New York Times as “dishonest,” arguing that the publication and other media outlets should face arrests for harming the United States.

According to Miraz.TV, Trump made the remarks in response to the newspaper’s report concerning his speech at a rally held in Ohio.

Dispute Over Ohio Rally Attendance

The New York Times reported that empty seats remained in the arena during the event. Trump strongly contested the claim, maintaining that the venue was at maximum capacity and that thousands of attendees had to be turned away.

“The arena in Ohio was packed to the rafters, yet people were still trying to get in. The New York Times said ‘there were empty seats.’ That was not true, and thousands of people were not allowed inside,” Trump wrote on his social media account.

Accusations of Unfair Media Coverage

Trump asserted that the newspaper and other media organizations “should be arrested for their dishonesty and the damage they do to our country.”

He further argued that while events held by Senator Bernie Sanders drawing 500 to 1,000 people were treated as major milestones by the press, his own events drawing up to 50,000 attendees received negative or skeptical coverage.
