The international nursery chain Kido has suffered a major Kido data breach, with a hacker group called Radiant stealing sensitive data from thousands of children and issuing a ransom demand.
Children’s Sensitive Data Stolen in Attack
The hacker group Radiant claims it stole information related to approximately 8,000 children across Kido’s operations in the U.S., U.K., China, and India. The compromised data reportedly includes names, photos, birthdates, addresses, and even medical records and safeguarding notes.
To prove its claims, the group posted samples of the stolen information, including pictures and detailed profiles of ten children, on a darknet website.
Radiant Hacker Group Kido Ransom Demand
Following the theft, Radiant issued a ransom demand, threatening to release more information if Kido did not pay. The group also allegedly contacted some parents directly by phone to pressure them.
Radiant defended its actions as a form of “[penetration testing],” a claim made without Kido’s permission.
