Channels linked to public web indexing will show a visual label so participants know their replies can appear online before sending them, Discord announced. Search engines will be allowed to index public channel chats held across more than 63,000 Discoverable Servers, letting anyone on the internet read them without needing an account or an invite.

The policy applies only to Discoverable Servers, which are publicly listed spaces with at least 1,000 members that meet platform safety standards. Private servers, direct messages, and private group chats will not be indexed.

On November 16, 2026, Discord will automatically generate public Server Web Pages for all Discoverable Servers, displaying server overviews and automated discussion summaries. In mid-December 2026, individual user messages submitted to participating public channels will begin appearing on those pages and in search engine results. Content posted before the mid-December rollout will not be indexed or made public. Discord verified that account names and profile avatars will not appear next to messages shown on public server web pages.

Server And Account Controls

Administrators can opt out individual channels or block all public exposure by adjusting options in Server Settings under the Web Presence menu. Individual members can disable message participation across all Discoverable Servers using a single toggle in User Settings under Data and Privacy. Turning off message sharing shields only future posts; previously published messages remain accessible online unless deleted manually.

Message publishing will be enabled by default for adult users in the United States and most regions. In contrast, it remains disabled by default in the European Union, the United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Australia, and South Korea because of local legal rules. Minor accounts are barred entirely from the indexing system until reaching 18 years of age.
