The combined net worth of the 400 richest Americans has reached a record $8 trillion. This represents an increase of $1.4 trillion compared to 2027.
This data was released by Forbes.
Entry Threshold Rises
To qualify for the ranking, a net worth of at least $4.4 billion is now required. This threshold has increased by $600 million compared to the previous year. However, 590 Americans failed to reach this level.
Elon Musk Remains on Top
Elon Musk once again leads the list. His wealth has more than doubled over the past year, reaching $908 billion.
The primary reason for this surge is the sharp increase in the value of his space business. In June, SpaceX held the largest IPO in history, which significantly boosted both the company’s valuation and Musk’s stake in it. Forbes had estimated Musk’s net worth at $428 billion a year ago.
In second place is Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with $378 billion. Third place is held by Google co-founder Larry Page with $278 billion. In fourth place is Michael Dell, head of Dell Technologies, who has benefited from the rising demand for AI servers, while Google co-founder Sergey Brin occupies fifth place with $256 billion.
The Impact of Artificial Intelligence
More than ten of the 34 new entrants in the ranking are linked to the artificial intelligence sector. The wealthiest individual to join the list for the first time is OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman. His net worth is estimated at $25.5 billion, placing him 45th in the ranking.
Six co-founders of the company Anthropic also made the list, each with a net worth of $15.5 billion. Among them is Daniela Amodei, the second-wealthiest woman in the country.
Women in the Ranking
The only woman in the top 15 is Alice Walton, daughter of Walmart founder Sam Walton. Her net worth is estimated at $118 billion. In total, 62 women are included in the ranking, which is the same as the previous year’s figure.
