The US Embassy in Russia has issued an urgent warning to Americans in the country, calling on them to leave Russia immediately.
The embassy also advised US citizens to avoid all planned travel to Russia.
Plague Risk and Health Concerns
The warning was prompted by the risk of a dangerous plague outbreak spreading across the country.
The diplomatic mission is closely monitoring reports of a pneumonic plague outbreak and the introduction of quarantine measures in the Irkutsk region following the death of a young woman. US citizens who have been in potential outbreak zones have been instructed to monitor their health closely for 14 days.

Notably, prior to this announcement, US President Donald Trump stated that the United States was ready to help Russia combat the spread of the disease.
