At least 109 people have died and 116 remain missing after a boat carrying 350 migrants capsized off the coast of Djibouti, according to the IOM.

Details of the Shipwreck off Obock

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the incident occurred off the coast of Obock, Djibouti. The vessel was attempting to cross from Djibouti to Yemen when it capsized and sank at sea.

Search and rescue teams recovered 109 bodies from the water, identifying 52 men, 42 women, and 15 children (nine girls and six boys).

Survivors and Search Efforts

Officials confirmed that all 80 survivors rescued from the disaster are Ethiopian nationals. Search operations continue for the 116 people who remain unaccounted for.
