A magnitude 5.7 earthquake has struck the Alaska Peninsula in the United States.

According to the Altai-Sayan branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the seismic activity was registered off the southern coast of the region.

Epicenter and Depth Details

The earthquake’s epicenter was located approximately 322 kilometers southwest of the city of Anchorage, with the seismic focus at a depth of 87.6 kilometers.

Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) assessed the event as a magnitude 5.5 earthquake.
