Musk directly owns approximately 4.8 billion shares of SpaceX. Including unexercised options and awards, his controlling stake reaches 6.4 billion shares, representing a 48.4% beneficial interest and 82% voting control in the company.
With roughly 72 million children under the age of 18 residing in the US, distributing one share to each child represents a massive asset transfer. Based on the stock’s closing price of $146.03 on October 16, the total gift value is estimated at around $10.5 billion.
However, the specific mechanism for distributing the shares remains unannounced. Official details regarding trust accounts, eligible age brackets, and potential tax obligations have not yet been disclosed.
