Texas quarterback Arch Manning suffered a potential Arch Manning injury during Saturday’s overtime victory against Mississippi State, leaving the game after a 13-yard scramble with apparent upper body pain.
Manning sustained the injury on the first play of overtime. Backup quarterback Matthew Caldwell Texas Longhorns’ QB2, entered the game to lead the final drive.
Caldwell Steps Up in Overtime Win
Caldwell threw the winning 10-yard touchdown pass to Emmett Mosley, sealing a 45-38 victory in the dramatic Texas Mississippi State overtime period. “What a moment for that guy to step in and make that throw,” Texas coach Steve Sarkisian said.
No Immediate Arch Manning Injury Update
Following the game, Coach Steve Sarkisian on Manning injury status provided no immediate details. An official Arch Manning injury update has not yet been released by the team.
Sarkisian instead praised the dynamic between his quarterbacks. “I think his rapport with Arch was a big part of it. They have a great relationship,” he said of Caldwell.
Manning Leads Fourth-Quarter Comeback
Before his exit, Manning led the Longhorns back from a 17-point, fourth-quarter deficit. He completed 29 of 46 passes for 346 yards, recording four total touchdowns and one interception.
The performance followed a polarizing season for the quarterback, who faced criticism after a subpar game against Kentucky last week. The win improved the Longhorns’ record to 6-2 overall.
