President Donald Trump ordered an immediate resumption of US nuclear testing Wednesday, citing recent tests by other nations as the reason for ending the country’s long-standing moratorium on the practice.

Trump Orders Nuclear Tests Response to Russia

In a Truth Social post, Trump stated he had “no choice” but to act. “Because of other countries’ testing programs, I have instructed the Department of War to start testing our Nuclear Weapons on an equal basis,” he wrote.

The president explained the decision was a direct response to global actions. “It had to do with others — they seemed to all be nuclear testing,” Trump said. “We halted it many years ago, but with others doing testing, I think it’s appropriate that we do also.

Claims of US Nuclear Superiority

Trump asserted American nuclear dominance, claiming the arsenal was updated during his first term. “The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country,” he stated, adding that Russia is second and China is a distant third.

He noted that China’s capabilities are growing and will likely match Russia’s within four or five years. The president does not believe that resuming American tests will create a more dangerous global environment, stating, “I think we have it pretty well locked up.

Russia Burevestnik Cruise Missile Test Prompts Action

The move follows Russia’s recent announcement of a successful test of its nuclear-powered Burevestnik cruise missile. Russia’s defense ministry reported the missile can travel over 8,000 miles, with its top general telling President Vladimir Putin one test remained airborne for about 15 hours.

In response, Trump issued a direct warning to Putin about American military positioning. The `Trump Putin nuclear submarine warning` came aboard Air Force One, where he said, “I know we have a nuclear submarine, the greatest in the world, right off their shores.

Future of US Nuclear Testing and Diplomacy

The Department of War will begin the process immediately, though specific details on locations and timing are pending. When asked for more information, Trump said, “It’ll be announced.

You know, we have test sites.”

Despite actions that could signal a `new nuclear arms race`, Trump mentioned ongoing diplomatic efforts. “I think de-escalation, or denuclearization, would be tremendous,” he said, noting the U.S. is talking to Russia and that China could be added to those discussions.
