August 2026 Visa Bulletin Released

The US State Department has released the new Visa Bulletin for August 2026. According to the updated schedule, there has been significant progress in priority dates for certain individuals waiting for a Green Card through family reunification.

Progress in the F2A Category

The most notable change occurred in the F2A category, which includes spouses and unmarried children under 21 of US permanent residents. The final action date for F2A has advanced significantly, reaching July 2026. This marks faster processing for many families in the queue.

Challenges for Employment-Based Visas

However, the situation is less favorable for employment-based Green Card applicants. The annual visa limit for the EB-2 category for Indian nationals has been reached. Due to high demand, there is a warning that the EB-1 category for India could also be temporarily closed in the coming weeks.

The US State Department states that when visa numbers reach their annual limit, that category may be declared “unavailable” until the start of the new fiscal year. The new fiscal year in the US begins on October 1.
