New York City police arrested the individual, who was later charged with assault, aggravated harassment, attempted assault, and criminal possession of a weapon. The accused was released from custody and has a court date scheduled for Nov. 13.

Official Recounts the Confrontation

The official described the approximately 10-minute encounter as “very disorienting.” The assailant allegedly screamed derogatory, pro-Palestinian comments, calling the official a “fascist” and a “Nazi.

I realized I was being yelled at and that the light was also a recording device,” the official stated. She attempted to hide in a bathroom stall, but the woman allegedly pushed on the door and filmed over it.

White House Alleges UN Security Failures

The White House condemned the incident, with Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly calling it “part of a disturbing and dangerous set of failures by the UN.” She also referenced alleged prior “sabotage of President Trump” by the organization.

Calls for UN General Assembly Security Review

The spokesperson added that the UN “has lost its way” and that the U.S. now “must also immediately implement a thorough review of the UN’s security operations.” This demand for a UN General Assembly security review comes after the spokesperson asked, “If you can’t keep people safe in your own building, how can you claim to be the world’s diplomatic center?

Arrest and Secret Service Investigation Underway

The U.S. Secret Service will lead a Secret Service investigation UN assault to determine how the alleged assailant gained entry to the secure event.
