The project has reached a critical phase with the arrival of key electrical equipment, including photovoltaic modules and structural components. Construction efforts are well underway, with significant progress made in installing piles and tracker systems. The first solar panel was installed in early April, and the current delivery of electrical hardware paves the way for the next phase of installation, with construction expected to continue until mid-2027.
Who is involved in the development?
The Shafag solar project is a collaborative effort between BP, which holds a 40.01% stake, and SOCAR Green, holding 39.99%. The Azerbaijan Business Development Fund and MVM each hold 10% shares. The project is also a significant source of local employment, currently engaging approximately 420 local workers, including 150 residents from the liberated territories. Efforts are also underway to manage environmental impacts through wildlife relocation and vegetation monitoring.
