President Donald Trump issued a Trump Hamas ultimatum via Truth Social on Friday, warning the group of severe consequences if it does not release all hostages by a Sunday evening deadline.
Details of the Trump Hamas Ultimatum
Trump stated Hamas is being given “one last chance” to accept an agreement. He posted, “RELEASE THE HOSTAGES, ALL OF THEM, INCLUDING THE BODIES OF THOSE THAT ARE DEAD, NOW!
An Agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M., Washington, D.C. time.”
The proposed deal would also spare the lives of all remaining Hamas combatants. “THIS DEAL ALSO SPARES THE LIVES OF ALL REMAINING HAMAS FIGHTERS!” Trump added in his post.
A New Trump Middle East Peace Plan
The ultimatum is tied to a broader Trump Middle East peace plan reportedly agreed to by the United States, Israel, and several wealthy Middle Eastern nations. Trump announced, “Great, powerful, and very rich Nations of the Middle East, and the surrounding areas beyond, together with the United States of America, have agreed, with Israel signing on, to PEACE.“
He confirmed that “Every Country has signed on!” and that “We will have PEACE in the Middle East one way or the other. The violence and bloodshed will stop.“
The 20-point plan, unveiled last week, calls for an end to Israel’s military operations and the disarmament of Hamas. It also outlines the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, which would be overseen by a new Palestinian governing body under a U.S.-led international coalition.
Threat of Unprecedented Military Action in Gaza
Failure to meet the Hamas hostage release deadline will result in what Trump called unprecedented military action Gaza has not yet seen. “If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas,” Trump warned.
As retribution for the October 7th attack, Trump claimed that “more than 25,000 Hamas ‘soldiers’ have already been killed.” He also stated that most remaining fighters are “surrounded and MILITARILY TRAPPED” and awaiting his order.
In his post, Trump advised innocent Palestinians to immediately move out of areas at risk of “potentially great future death,” adding that they would be cared for by relief efforts.
Netanyahu Faces Potential Government Collapse
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s response to the plan could determine the fate of his increasingly divided government. His acceptance may prevent a potential Benjamin Netanyahu government collapse or, conversely, trigger one from hard-right members who oppose concessions.
During a joint press conference with Trump last week, Netanyahu stated that if Hamas remains a threat, Israel “will finish the job by itself.“
