Putin Reportedly Proposes Ukraine Peace Deal Involving Territorial Cessions and NATO Ban

Russian President Vladimir Putin has allegedly detailed a set of conditions to end the war in Ukraine, communicating the terms in a recent discussion with former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The conversation reportedly took place in Alaska less than one week ago, with official channels in Washington being formally notified of the proposal on Friday.

Russia’s Key Conditions for Peace

Central to the Kremlin’s reported offer is a demand for Ukraine to forsake any future membership in the NATO alliance.

Moscow also insists on a commitment that no Western military troops will be stationed on Ukrainian territory.

A further non-negotiable condition is that Kyiv must formally cede the Donbas region, an area comprising the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.

Offer to Freeze Conflict and Relinquish Territory

In exchange, Putin would reportedly agree to a ceasefire that freezes the current front lines, effectively ending active combat operations.

This proposal also includes an alleged offer for Russian forces to withdraw from certain captured territories.

The areas slated for potential withdrawal include occupied parts of the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

This diplomatic initiative follows a period of prolonged stalemate, with Russian forces having made no significant strategic advances since 2023.

The reported terms are set against the backdrop of Russia’s illegal annexation of four Ukrainian regions—Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia—in late 2022. This followed the 2014 annexation of Crimea and the initial occupation of parts of the Donbas.
